Poker news

An out-of-work, part-time player who made into the tournament by winning a freeroll, won the world series of poker Circuit (WSOPC) championship event in Chicago on October 26th, 2009.

22 year-old Dan Livingston, who acquired entry into the $5,200 tournament through one of a series of draws inside the Horseshoe Casino Poker Room in Hammond, Indiana, said that he always wanted to win a gold bracelet but a gold ring will be enough for now.

Livingston, who recently quit from his job working in an auto-detailing shop, outwitted a field of 248 poker players to win the $291,749 1st place cash prize and was very happy following his win. Livingston said that he is proud for winning nearly $300,000 for just forty hours of work.

Prior to winning the World Series of Poker Circuit championship event, the Oak Forest, Illinois native usually played $100 buy-in poker tournaments at the Horseshoe Casino and his biggest cash-in to date was a $4,000 score online. He is now considering taking up the game as a serious career.

Livingston said that winning the tournament was a serious boost to his confidence and he wants to see how far he can go in the poker circuit. Livingston defeated Indian Head Park, Illinois resident Tom Floros in the heads-up showdown.
